Overview

Tel Aviv Kebab House, nestled in the quieter stretch of Kew Gardens Hills on Main Street, offers an inviting culinary journey into the vibrant flavors of Middle Eastern and Central Asian kebabs and dishes. This unassuming eatery excels in delivering authentic kebabs, hearty soups, and fresh salads that reflect a rich cultural tapestry, perfect for both casual meals and family gatherings.

The core attraction here is undeniably the kebabs. The menu features a diverse range—tender lamb chops, succulent chicken lula kebabs, and flavorful veal liver skewers—each grilled to perfection and seasoned with care. The signature Horovak Shish Kebab stands out as a must-try, capturing smoky depth balanced by fresh, vibrant sides like the Tel Aviv House Salad and crisp cucumber pickles. For those longing for robust hearty flavors, the lamb ribs and ribeye steak options deliver a satisfying experience, enhanced by choices of grilled vegetables or fries.

Soups at Tel Aviv Kebab House deserve special mention. The Pelmeni Soup serves up handmade dumplings swimming in rich broths—whether it’s the classic shurpa or the vegetable-laden lagman—providing warmth and comfort, especially on colder days. The Uzbek Pilov, a rice-based dish infused with spices and meat, is a crowd favorite that complements the kebab selections beautifully.

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, ideal for intimate dinners or lively family gatherings. As highlighted by patrons, the service feels personal and attentive, often enhancing the dining experience. The space itself, while modest, carries a genuine charm that invites repeat visits. It’s a place where you don’t just come for the meal but for the feeling of community and authenticity.

Tel Aviv Kebab House seems to appeal to those in search of hearty, flavorful Middle Eastern fare away from the bustle of the city’s tourist spots. Its location lends a quieter, more relaxed vibe, making it an excellent option for locals and visitors who appreciate genuine flavors without the frills. Whether you’re a kebab aficionado or exploring these dishes for the first time, the substantial portions and thoughtful preparation ensure you leave satisfied and eager to return.

Not so many people in this restaurant. Food is delicious, portion is big. They also serve some authentic Middle Eastern drink.

I'll start by saying my expectations were not so high when I grabbed takeout from here on a snowy day. And I was very much pleasantly surprised. It's a super unassuming spot, it was empty when I went, it's in a quieter area of Main Street. Grabbed two things: chicken lula and pilimeny soup. I wasn't so familiar with really either of these. The chicken was delicious: plump, well-flavored, nicely portioned. Simple came with onions and nothing else. But a surprisingly good price for the size of beef. The soup I really didn't know what to expect but the broth was really a nice delight. It was heartier than I expected and the dumplings were plentiful and filled with meat. I will say I wish it came with a spoon (luckily I was eating at home). Will definitely consider coming back to try more of the kebabs and definitely more of the soups. Altogether ~$18 which for the area is very reasonable.

We had a family gathering of 12 people. We ordered some things in advance. When we got there, the table was set beautifully and all the salads were on the table. The whole meal was great. We ordered all types of food and it was delicious. Great service, very cozy atmosphere. Friendly employees. Everything was just perfect. The price is very reasonable, better than what I expected. Great place.

Another delicious meal. The ground chicken kebab was one of my favorite. The lamb is amazing... Oh and the plov! You must have the plov especially in the winter. The avocado salad is like an Israeli salad. Prices are reasonable and you leave very full and happy!
